Matthew Denney
Lead Instructor
Matt has always been the happiest out of doors. Growing up in Florida and active in Scouting he developed a love for canoeing, camping, hiking, and too many skills to list. Some of those skills led to a job renting and teaching kayaking at a nearby beach as well as driving on the beach and and trails he could find.

Matt became a Deputy Sheriff in Florida where he was assigned to the traffic enforcement unit as a field training officer, collaterally he was a member of the SWAT Team and an Instructor for the department and the local police academy. Matt taught several topics including EVOC (driving), firearms, Medical First Responder, and defensive tactics. You would be surprised where you can take a 2-wheel drive Crown Victoria or Caprice.

He left the Sheriif's Office to serve as a member of the International Police Task Force in Kosovo. As a member of the Close Protection Unit, he became an instructor for the United Nations, European Union and OSCE. Matt acted as a team leader and unit tactical commander. Matt was certified as a driver for an RG 31, 4x4 armored personnel carrier, and drove every 4-wheel drive in the UN's fleet including Toyota Four Runners, Nissan Patrol, Ford Expedition, and RG32's. Finding "off-road" opportunities in the countryside was simple, getting un-stuck...

After completing his mission in Kosovo, Matt spent the next 6 years working in Iraq and Afghanistan. Driving armored personnel carriers in support of the diplomatic mission, operating a British Saxon, Mamba and a GM Cougar as a member of the Quick Reaction Force. Matt also drove armored Land Cruisers and Suburbans. His favorite 4x4 however was the soft skin, diesel Toyota Hi-Lux.

Matt returned to the US to take a full time teaching/instructional position, supporting the State Department's diplomatic missions abroad. Matt has been teaching driving on and off road for the last 13 years. He has trained Federal Forces from all over the world and foreign nationals from many of our allied nations.
